Protect human-made work

Difficulty

20 min setup

You can't make every crawler polite, but you can put a few “don't just take this” markers on your work — enough to make misuse harder and harder to excuse.

Field steps

  1. 1

Sign it loudly: put your name and year on the work itself (not just a page corner) and in the metadata. If it gets lifted, at least the evidence travels with it.

  2. 2

Layer visible + invisible marks: visible watermarks stop casual grabs; perturbation tools (the Glaze / Nightshade idea) add noise that fouls training.

  3. 3

Opt out: switch off “train models on my content” in platform settings, and drop a robots.txt that blocks known AI crawlers at your site root.
