Only 16% of Americans think AI will make society better
New study: 84% of Americans aren't convinced AI is a good thing. BenPig looked at this and thought the number felt about right.
On June 16, TechCrunch reported a new study. The finding was simple: only 16% of Americans think AI will have a positive impact on society.
Out of a hundred people, roughly sixteen think AI is a good thing. The other eighty-four think it won't matter or things will get worse.
When BenPig saw this number, it paused. Not because it was surprised — because the number felt about right.
Think about it. AI took interns' jobs. Fake AI art slipped into galleries. Search results got buried under AI summaries. These things happen every day. Why would anyone think it's a good thing?
BenPig doesn't know if this number will change. But it feels good to know it's not just BenPig who thinks something is off.
